    MMHS STUDENTS CREATING ADAPTIVE EQUIPMENTRecently Sherry was visited by Mr. Jim Lenke. Mr. Lenke is the science teacher at MMHS here in Machias. Mr. Lenke has started a new project with his students this year. Their ambitious plan is to work to improve on adaptive equipment for people with physical disabilities. Armed with a 3D printer that was given to them by the state of Maine, their project is to study existing adaptive equipment, and talk with those people using the equipment to find where improvements can be made. The class is looking to improve on any design flaws, but also create new equipment that can be attached to Sherry’s chair when needed. Jim has taken all the measurements, and now the next step will be to come up with a design, that can be created by the 3D printer.
