Boys’ JV Basketball, by Coach Roy
The JV Bulldog team is racking up points and wins in a season focused on growth. Through perseverance, determination and sportsmanship, our team is making a name for themselves on the court. And truthfully, we are having a great time doing it.
A Big Win
Some of our best competition has been against the Shead Tigers. We lost the first two games by just a few points, playing hard till the final buzzer. In game three, we were even more determined to win. Once again, the game came down to the wire, all tied up with 13 seconds to go. The Tigers took a shot and just missed. The Bulldogs got the rebound and the coach called time out. A play was drawn up. The Bulldogs executed it perfectly and Dylan Baker scored the game winning, fast-break layup with just a couple seconds to go. It was a great victory for the JV team.
Become a Bulldog
The JV basketball program is set-up to prepare its members for Varsity basketball. Because we focus on growth, we encourage anyone who has interest to get involved. We emphasize learning skills and gaining experience.
Although making the team is not a guarantee, most years 100% of the students play on either JV or Varsity teams. Usually we have 3 to 4 days of tryouts. Students are divided between JV and Varsity teams based on skill and attitude.
It is most important to learn fundamentals to be successful in basketball. The more time an athlete works on their basic skills the better they will be. Also it takes more then just one player to win games.
The success of a team hinges on ALL its players and how those players work together. We want to encourage MMHS athletes to work hard and use teamwork.
