Mr. Leavitt, Principal

Welcome to the Machias Memorial High School website.  I hope viewing this site will provide some insight into our school, what it has to offer, and why many of our students and families feel it is a special place.

We are a small school with an enrollment of 125 students.  We have a lot to offer students and strive to meet their academic, social, and civic needs.  We do this by knowing our students, having positive relationships with them and their families, and seeking out customized opportunities for each student regardless of what their interests or career goals may be.

The low student to teacher ratio creates an atmosphere that provides a personal learning environment in which students can feel free to be themselves while getting the support they deserve and need.  Each student has a teacher assigned to them as an advisor.  This ensures that every student has an adult in the building that they can develop a trusting respectful relationship to help them through their high school years.

Machias Memorial High School offers AP classes and honors level classes.  If our school does not offer a specific AP class that your student needs we can enroll them online or through videoconferencing classes.

Every year juniors and seniors participate in apprenticeships or internships.  Our guidance counselor works with organizations to place students in their area of career interest.  This exploratory experience gives students valuable information that helps them make post-secondary decisions.

Machias Memorial High School provides an Apple iPad to all its students for the school year.  Machias Memorial High School believes that providing these technological tools prepares students for future jobs and transforms learning in the classroom.
